extremely dull makeover

i woke up around 9:00 this morning, lain around for a while, took a very damp shower, had my breakfast (which consisted of ONLY milk). then i had a very naggy thought of fixing up my room. MY ROOM???

well, i *hate* my room. it smells a bit old and shoe-y, and through the years it has accumulated junk (of the humongous kind) and dirt. the only "living space" will be my bed. i don't really spend time in my room save for snoozing, and so like cheese i let it become rotten and moldy. we don't have a maid for the past 3 years already, and i admit i'm quite a huge SLACKER in organizing things.

and so, at around 11am, i turned into "housekeep mode" and with my Weapons of Mass Dissemination (a broom, a dustpan, a big plastic bag and a wet rag) i labored around my little yellow room (which has spawned cobwebs on the ceiling). for entertainment, i turned my component on and finally heard alternative music again (since i don't listen to much radio the past few months). i took the bedsheets out for cleaning and wiped the edges of my bed. i took my used clothes out in a bin.

and here comes the big time-consuming part: clearing out the junk. it occupies almost half of my room! they're mostly 1) things my mom doesn't like to throw out (have not been used for years, and some are broken!), 2) my old books (i guess from grade 1 to high school fourth year!) in three kinds of boxes, 3) my old toys and knickknacks (for heaven's sake!), 4) around 2 dozen pairs of shoes (mom's and mine) all around stacked in boxes or bare, 5) 2 broken appliances, 6) lots of school paperwork i haven't had the heart to dispose, 7) old clothes (7 years' worth of em) and 8) dirt. if it were my decision, i'll throw the stuff out (with a garbage truck or something) and donate the books and clothes, but i bet it'll cause a ruckus with mommy dearest ("that's our investment, dammit!"). i have nothing better to do than to box them up. great thing we had around 5 empty boxes, so i went on to box up the shoes (the biggest space-consumer). it had the biggest box too. then the old things, and the old toys.

i moved my bed to a new direction, facing the sunlight. i stacked the boxes on top of each other, put some things back in its proper place, so the room won't be so clutter-y. i dusted the place afterwards. all in all, today's "extremely dull makeover" took around 5 hours to accomplish. good effects? at least 1) the junk-clutter level is now lowered to 1/3!, 2) the place is now much more suitable for living (and bumming around), and 3) my stress over the room upkeep has lessened. a college girl has to be tidy!

the blinds may still be dusty (i didn't know how to clean it), but i feel absolutely satisfied with what i've done. i'll ask my dad if we can have a paint job soon, and fix a part of the ceiling (ugh! the rainy season!). for now, my back feels tired and i'm very sleepy.
