tarrying & harrying

for lack of a more creative title. *cues to laugh*

today's OE (obsessive entertainment) double-post discussion goes to my favorite seasonal show, The Amazing Race 8; and a little "digging" into the much-awaited movie of the yearend, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. (this is going to be neurotic, i'm sure.) just read the October 22 posts downward (since i'm a scroll-down type -- like an online magazine :D)

P.S. i'm the featured YOU Blog Addict of the Week. (thanks a lot Joey!)

TARrying

3 brothers on the left, 3 sisters on the right. matchmaking anyone? ;p

i'm an avid fan of The Amazing Race, and certainly this season won't cease the excitement. even though it's (for the moment) a family edition and they're not globetrotting, they still make a good show (TAR's no Best Reality Competition Show for nothing! ;p) ...

four episodes have gone past... and i've got my favorite --guess me not-- the Linzs... don't exactly know why -- maybe because they're such a fun team & they work well. (in the pic: Tommy-19, Megan-21, Alex-22, Nick-24) ... wonder if i were in megan's shoes, having 3 'bratty' brothers who goof around. i laugh at most of the boys' antics, though i really like it that they're close-knit (unlike the other teams *wink, wink*) i was a little touched when the guys helped mae carry her backpack when they were running across the street 2 episodes back (oh well, i'm a sucker for these stuff...) i'm rooting for them to win (now that we're down to six teams and they're one of the strong leads.)

which brings us to another team, the Bransens. i'm happy that they're on the top for twice now, since they're my other favorite... i'm into nice teams, and of course i want to get some of that free gas! *hahaha*... (in the pic: Lindsay-20, Walter-51, Elizabeth-25, Lauren-22) ... the girls joke about their dad (Wally!) and their interaction with the Linzs (especially last week)... really fun. glad that the Daddy's such a nice pop (that he's proud of his daughters, and he's got a soft spot in my heart -- he wore the "Late Show with David Letterman" shirt twice! he's a fan, that's interesting... and that he looks so daddy-ish when he wears his reading glasses ;p) i'm looking forward to see 2 of the teams in the final 3, with one wildcard (can't decide who). but i still like phil. and the free gas.

(about phil... i'm jealous -- Daddy Paolo always hugs him!)

HARRYing

cedric diggory played by robert pattinsonok, i'm getting a bit caught by the HP frenzy, since this year's launched Book Six and coming soon, the GoF adaptation (i think this is the first time both an HP book & movie churned out in one year)... anyhoo, since i haven't got hold of the "HBP" yet (aaarrgh, though i still can't believe the spoiler! **frustrated and intrigued**) i'll just blab about the latest movie. i don't exactly call the film adaptations great (i'm only a popcorn moviegoer), but it definitely checks-and-balances your imagination and bookworm skills (is that how i thought certain character acts and looks like? ooohhh..) and as always, gives you fantastic actors & actresses -- people to gush over, simultaneously feeding your frenzied mind.

confessional: believe me, i never really found daniel radcliffe cute. (sorry!) yeah, he was when he was much, much younger, but i got a little appalled by his maturing features in "PoA"... much less the other kiddies (haha... save for emma watson, the boys didn't appeal to me anymore. draco looked horrible, i'm afraid. yeah, but look who's talking! ;p) so it's a true test to present to me cedric diggory, the one that i've read much about in GoF (i'm in the process of rereading before the film, like the former ones) about being "the most handsome guy in Hogwarts". i believe he was described like that in the book quite a number of times, so it sticks in the memory. shame his character died so sudden.

same guy herecedric is played by robert pattinson, who is a relative unknown.. i almost came close to watching the only movie i know he's starred -- "The Ring of the Nibelungs" -- but then, never mind. when the casting news broke out, i went searching for pictures and uh, well, he looks fine. (i saw first the picture on the right -- kinda michael buble-ish, don't you think?) he initially didn't strike me as "uber-handsome"... maybe boyband-look kind of handsome. he looked much better in the wizard pic (thick eyebrows, eh? hmm... looks like a younger version of "sex & the city"'s Mr.Big -- since he reminds me of that guy) but still, hmm... he leaves more to be desired in the upcoming November 16th film... if he doesn't live up to the description, i'll bunch myself with the oldies (ha!)

(Steph inspired this post. cannot absolutely wait to watch it!)

happy weekend! :D

'material girl' material?

what does a normal student on a sem-break do? explore? have fun?

well finally i 'tried' to indulge in that sense last sunday as my mom and i went shopping / window-shopping / drag your feet workout (which way would i like to think)... i never really liked shopping (i detest the crowds, the sizes, the prices... and the exhaustion of brain cells and body muscles thereafter) but since i "go out" on rare occasions, i'd better make the most of it. we went bargain-hunting -- well actually we were just walking around to get lost in a sea of sweaty temples -- and see for ourselves a newly-built hangout spot. pretty tiresome, but i especially loved the new bookstore.

as a result i got myself an apple green collared shirt (i couldn't get enough of that color -- or do i miss my alma mater?!) because of impulse and somewhat a desire to have a green shirt. at first you'll find the greenness quite shocking but then you'll get cozy and might even adore the goddess wearin' it. :p

i also canvassed the prices of mp3 players... there's not much choice since they're almost on fixed prices. finding other alternatives other than Apple iPods (why don't they produce a sleeker version of the shuffle?) ... like there's the Samsung YP-T8 and coming soon Sony's offering... maybe i'll survey the coast and wait till yearend... well i don't grudgingly need one (too paranoid of getting robbed) just yet. i'm patient.

and i ate pizza after a three-month interval! wonder why i love 'em... :D

that's all for now. i'm in need of a worthwhile activity these days!

too much of a good thing...

OMG! ticking computer bombs!

I'M BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

it's officially the first day of my three-week long semestral break. yippee!

i've never actually had a long break like this, since usually in high school we've only got 10 days for a rest period. this is gonna be cool... (to jumpstart, i just went malling yesterday with lovely..) :)

---

forget about the grades, dude. i almost had a nervous breakdown when i *thought* this PC's hard disk's gonna CRASH again. (it explains why i didn't post yesterday.) it was so real since the symptoms have happened before (last year?):

i open the switches (voltage, adaptor, CPU) in the usual manner. then the CPU gives off sounds (kinda like a tooooot--pause--tooooot sound... oh please, it's not funny! ;|) and the screen doesn't flash anything. i reopened the computer around five times, to no effect... still that shrieking sound. augggh. i then pulled the plug of the whole PC connection (the main socket), left it like that overnight, and started right up in the morning, NORMAL as ever. whew.

since last night, i was so f*n worried about the files i've stored, and most especially i'm definitely gonna be killed by my folks if i told them that. (just when i had a winding sermon about my 6-hour PC marathon because of the bio paper last week). the last repair was august 2004, and 2 times before that. grrr.... i'm so thankful that it was a false alarm... if it really was one.

so i've been careful enough for computer management. i can't afford any troublesome crashes anymore. i've just deleted all the unnecessary files in my computer, saved the others in the disk, erased all the temporary internet content (in case it was a virus or a memory storage malfunction) ... i'll probably limit my PC usage to 2-3 hours daily. oh i hope the worst won't happen again... can't afford any bad news.

has anyone experienced this before?

mr.bruckheimer, you're a god

ok, i'll give a double-post frenzy today... just for the benefit of updating and making up for the past week and next week's drought. this has been a lingering topic and as always i'd love to share it 'ere. :)

---

i'm gonna talk about jerry bruckheimer-produced shows today, and if i assume i'm right i think i'm watching all of them (not including franchises): Without a Trace, Cold Case, CSI & The Amazing Race. (aside from this, the other show i watch is --you know that-- Desperate Housewives. so by now you know what time i'm gonna slump on the couch.) i've talked about the latter two before, but then i'll give TAR a special mention since they're up on a new season. i wonder why his shows tickle my fancy. anyhoo...

without a trace here goes my favorite sunday series, "without a trace". it's about missing person cases. we've got a team of investigators scoping out details, events, evidences and possible suspects... i like the show because of its storyline (haha.. detective stuff) and it's much like CSI, only dead body replaced by missing person. and well, of course, the HOTTIES. (who couldn't afford to miss them!) there's the "Boys" (as they're called), danny taylor and martin fitzgerald. they're obviously the show's eye candy... no, i don't watch the show just to ogle at them, they just add to the thrill! :p

the hot hot hot danny taylor / enrique murcianomy mom and i 'fight' every sunday night to convince one other who's hotter, martin (played by eric close) or danny. well who cares, i CHOOSE DANNY... although they look good together. (hahaha!)he's played by enrique murciano, pretty much a newbie. he's absolutely hot. "hot" is different from "cute". martin's "cute", danny's "hot". (if you know what i mean.) well, in my boy-crazy observation, eric (martin) is the typical good-looking good guy, and somehow i'm tired of that. danny (enrique) on the other hand, embodies a tough macho male -- he's brusque in the role he portrays, that's why he's more appealing. and he's so handsome! no one could agree more with me than People (latin edition), who listed enrique as one of their 25 Most Eligible Bachelors... bachelor?! i gotta catch him! (tibdit: heidi klum was once enrique's girlfriend.) :D

cold caseanother one would be "cold case". it's another "detective" series, except now it's about cold cases -- cases from long ago that have never been solved. (hence the title) it's helmed by a lady detective, lilly rush (kathryn morris) -- the only female detective in the Philadelphia police force. ain't that wow? i like her character because she's tough and gets results. she's a go-getter -- she doesn't stop until it's done and is not afraid of anyone obstructing her way. another thing about "cold case" is since it deals with the past, they've got to set a "nostalgic scenario". here comes the soundtrack music fest... it's so funny that the songs they play are very nostalgic to the point of ad nauseam... haha. the songs always give me LSS. like "straight from the heart" or "lean on me"... but really, they uplift the drama of the show. i never fail to watch it, though i hate it that the cute guy detective's gone (i only saw him once... no eye candy anymore!) ;p

it doesn't stop here... my favorite reality show is back! The Amazing Race 8! now a Family Edition! for the most part my excitement never ceased... the "couples around the world" thing is on break, now we've got 10 teams of four family members competing around the united states for the $1M. hmm.. we've reached 2 episodes, 2 pitstops already. what can i comment? well, about the families, i hate the Gaghans... they feel like they're so great and everything... and the kids are so freakin' annoying! i would rather opt for the Linzs, since i think they're fun (3 brothers & 1 sister -- wish i were the sister) and you could see the bond. the Bransens are nice too. the Paolos? they're for my entertainment pleasure (but obviously they bicker too much). i would like to see the Linz siblings win. and ogle at Phil Keoghan all the time. :)

wish me luck for the finals!

Y 5:42 PM
so-so

i welcome myself back, even if only for a while... i'm taking a 6-day hiatus from 'net civilization, since the finals were moved to monday, october 10 (instead of tuesday). so my sked of exams will be from oct.10-14, which will be 5 days of brain-heckling and gizzard-grinding. ugh... the feeling of 4 months fast passing by is so unnerving. it was like only yesterday that i was panicking for my first day in college! one semester has passed... wow. i'd better study sooo damn hard, at least to have a 2 point average. somehow i couldn't manage a 1 in the "difficult" subjects, so better stick to that.

i'm happy to announce i've finished doing the 2 reports i thought i'd cry over for not beating the deadline: i finished all of 'em yesterday, at 3:00 am. whew! i congratulated myself for finishing earlier than expected, and taking a heavy load off my back so from tonight i can focus for my quiz tomorrow and the finals.

and i don't want to fail to mention, i finally got a "1" in my recent Math quiz! that's the first time ever in college algebra history for me! (and probably my whole Math history since high school!) not a 100 though, but 96... i felt so happy that i'm one of 2 who got the highest in class... i'm so proud of myself... this just goes to show i can probably do great in math if i wanted to (to think, i found the quiz easy... so if only i were positive with the other quizzes)... just one major improvement that kept my mood sparkly haha...

um, when has this blog gone so nerdy!?!? :p

*swamped*

pic from TROO BLOO: a Blooregard Q. Kazoo fanlisting hello there. it's almost 2:30 am and i'm still awake! (i slept most of the night though, so just the same..) i really detest this whole "cram season" (this week, next week, and the week after that) because i have to get so busy with homework, researches, quizzes and b.s. i ultimately have to finish so i can pass this semester. grr. imagine: i haven't done my theology portfolios, a "term paper" for biology (actually, a written output from my crappy skin report last time), research about debating, to be submitted all within the week! and exams to come my way before the finals! (oh f*! my PE finals is on tuesday and i'm not even prepared!) i really hate it! whether i like it or not, i have to work on them full-time tomorrow. :(

and featured today (to spicen up my bored energy) is the adorable blooregard "bloo" q. kazoo from cartoon network's "foster's home for imaginary friends"... isn't he cute? (haven't gotten to search wackier pictures, but there's a lot of codes w/ bloo from Troo Bloo and Imagine That!, both of which i joined... haha)... i started noticing this show from waking up at 8:30 on saturdays (like today, lazy lazy) and catching this on tv... the animation's neat -- kinda two-dimensional, and quite funny. it's about mac, a little boy who lives in a house owned by dotty granny madame foster with all sorts of imaginary things children come up inhabiting in (hence, the title), and his best friend is bloo! i have only watched around 3 episodes and i'm itching for more! i love getting in touch with my childishness :)

**note: my finals is on oct.11-15, so please bear with me as my posts boil down to a trickle. today's an exception, since i love start-of-the-month posts! :) **
