anchor-watching in mundanity it's a beautiful (but HOT) month of may! i, for one, am particularly excited with the progress of the days... my dad said i'm wasting away my life in this long break, so i want to break out of this mundane existence and commingle with several other homo sapiens who are also designated to the same predicament (how "trying hard" to be politically correct.) however "rockish" (literally!) my vacation seems to be, i admit there are also good things I'm thankful for: 1) no back-braking, brain-splitting, teeth-gnashing schoolwork. though i awfully want to experience these syndromes by now, at least i needn't be worrying about making the grade. these 'cravings' always happen in the wrong time anyway. i better wish i hadn't wished it. 2) loads of free time. eating any possible snack at any possible time, waking up in the weekends late, be a couch potato for all you care, surfing the net WITH a reason, doing something you hadn't had the time to when you were hectic, daydreaming 24/7. who wouldn't like that? (AND if you don't, give me 50 REASONS why!) 3) cable tv!!! many times i don't see the 'heaven' of cable... unless you are in the RIGHT SHOW at the RIGHT CHANNEL at the RIGHT TIME. i'm not saying this because i don't have a TV Guide, i'm just not the type of person who loves anything dished out to her. like in the case of vegetables, i'm "picky". whenever i hate the LOOKS of the scene (if the actors look bad, if the comedy / love scene / horror / drama looks horrible, the script looks sucky, any thing that makes me abhor the show), i scram within five minutes. i'm not into sitcoms. i'm not into reality dating shows. i'm not into teen dramas. i'm not into old movies (80's to early 90's) that HBO regularly shows at my time of day. (ENTER the REAL part of my post :p) i'm not into news as i used to be (like 5 years ago, i religiously watch 'em), and so when i'm not interested in what they report (usually, because of the timezones, the news i get is always 'recycled'... they report almost the same things every hour), i channel-surf. however, one gorgeous thing that made me glued to the cnn screen again is... (ta-dah! *drumroll*) Max Foster! (*ahem* it's not the biggest reason why i watch cnn, ok? i DO follow the news!) i recently discovered the anchor (the latest in my never-ending saga of anchor-watching since 2000) last month (something like the 2nd week of april), while reading "The Catcher in the Rye". he's cute, my first thought came. then back to reading. didn't see max until a few days later. then in the middle of really excruciating boredom (i was not doing anything that time) did it strike me: he's definitely cute! for some time before, i was searching for my favorite cute anchor tony campion, but Vic from PEx told me that tony left since december 23. (where did he go?) awww.. no wonder. i haven't watched cable until last month. and so, another dreamboat arrived and replaced my darling physicist (ha! tony holds a doctorate in particle physics!)... and a handsome one! i'm pretty much relieved. i like max because he's boyish (like tony) and he's got a sense of humor. he swivels his chair (i have seen that thrice) like a precocious kid, and unleashes a grin (sometimes) before every break and before he says goodbye. and this, i have learned semi-monitoring him for around three days. and i LOVE it! my latest net wonder is joining the CNN Fan Forum. it's great to post my marvels of cable news there... g'day! :) |
