Save me from these evil deeds
Before I get them done
I know tomorrow brings the consequence at hand
But I keep livin' this day like

~~ Fiona Apple, "Criminal"

---

that's probably one of the songs to sum up my entire feeling for this year... (what?! i'm derangedly evil!) ... moreover, i'm actually sad because this is the worst holiday break for me in recent memory... i f*n hate everything that's happening in my life right now. but anyways, just wishing for the better come '06 :|

hmm... why not a yearend roundup? there are still some stuff to talk about. just to chase away the mundanity (is there such a word?) of the moment. (btw, i'm 'trying' to prepare a low-key new year's celebration with the folks here... sodas and popcorn and a possible jive session) ... heck, i'm terribly not in the mood though.

Noteworthy things that happened in 2005:
  • surviving SJ... thought i'd never get out of there!
  • meeting people, having friends in college; & college per se
  • having this blog. really. the ultimate sanctuary.
  • being independent. overcoming most of personal obstacles.

    How was 2005 for me:
  • lovely (the first 3 months since it was grad season)
  • challenging (the whole college adjustment thing)
  • so-so (nothing exactly amazing happened aside from those)
  • crappy (like, right now)

    Wish to happen in 2006:
  • a saner, peaceful existence (within me & around me)
  • the "cloud" to clear up... it's hard being stressed & depressed for no reason!
  • become more mature. hate it when you're viewed as an "18-year-old dimwit".
  • people to be more understanding
  • me to be nicer. i've been bad, yes.
  • stop being lazy ?!
  • major in accountancy -- please!!!
  • have all the love in the world, whichever way possible.

    Take your pick:
  • Favorite movie/s this year: Love Actually, Charlie & the Chocolate Factory, Harry Potter & the Goblet of Fire, Red Eye (can't remember the rest)
  • Favorite book/s: Angels & Demons, The Alchemist, The Broker, The Testament
  • Favorite tv shows: they're all new -- Without a Trace, Cold Case, Lost, Desperate Housewives... and of course, Amazing Race & CSI
  • Favorite personality: Max Foster (obviously), Scarlett Johannson, Cillian Murphy ... and a bunch of others.. (gawd, i'm rushing)

cheers! 6+ hours left before the new year! :D
(hem hem, this is my 150th post!)

    bauble babble

my lovely light blue esprit watch, resting on my cute red doodle notebook

(... i don't know what to say, so i'll babble.)

i don't exactly feel like the most "holiday" of persons... christmas came and went like any normal sunday, and in a few days the year will be turning over but still i'm not giddy. horrible ain't it? i'm supposed to be all happy with the "vacation mode" and wondering what to do on new year's eve ("partying" like there's no tomorrow?) but i'm stuck up with myself right now. and that's a crappy feeling.

let's just wait and see if things get any better. :|

i'm happy with the lovely light blue esprit watch momsie gifted me on christmas though, since i haven't had a sturdy (read: genuine) new one in years. my pink swatch right now, one i've kept handy for all-purpose wearing since grade 2 (i think) is breaking apart -- the fastening strap's about to give way. yay, i have a new accessory for 2006! :)

omg, i haven't done most of my homework -- lots of reading and reviewing. good thing i started with math last monday... need to study for the "resumed class" quizzes, and for the january prelims (on the 16th) even for just a bit. maybe i'll start later... i always make it a broken habit to finish everything on the last few days of the year so i won't be in a "rushing and cramming mode" for the next 365 days.

i miss writing essays. haven't written one since may! feel like i'm losing all my thoughts... haha. i'd better get started on that Award-Winning Piece for the Palanca (yeah, right) these days, before i get "busy" again. problem is, what's my topic? :|

i have a craving for delicious food. sweets, pizza, cakes!!! i need to survive!!!! ;p

i *hate* am so bored with the Net. i keep on surfing with the prospect of discovering something new... but still stick to the old base... where's the entertainment?

(...enough of my being lackadaisical.) *zap*

    a lovely christmas story

in the spirit of the season... i hope you'll like this re-posting of a timeless story about the meaning of christmas... i read this one not so long ago, and it really warmed my heart (i think i got teary-eyed... sappy me)... so maybe i'll share it with you. :)

    happy christmas everyone! :D

(p.s. you know why i'm up this late?! i've been sending people SMS via the IM... because i have no cellphone load! pretty funny eh?)

    THE GIFT OF THE MAGI
    by O. Henry

One dollar and eighty-seven cents. That was all. And sixty cents of it was in pennies. Pennies saved one and two at a time by bulldozing the grocer and the vegetable man and the butcher until one's cheeks burned with the silent imputation of parsimony that such close dealing implied. Three times Della counted it. One dollar and eighty- seven cents. And the next day would be Christmas.
There was clearly nothing to do but flop down on the shabby little couch and howl. So Della did it. Which instigates the moral reflection that life is made up of sobs, sniffles, and smiles, with sniffles predominating.

While the mistress of the home is gradually subsiding from the first stage to the second, take a look at the home. A furnished flat at $8 per week. It did not exactly beggar description, but it certainly had that word on the lookout for the mendicancy squad.

In the vestibule below was a letter-box into which no letter would go, and an electric button from which no mortal finger could coax a ring. Also appertaining thereunto was a card bearing the name "Mr. James Dillingham Young."

The "Dillingham" had been flung to the breeze during a former period of prosperity when its possessor was being paid $30 per week. Now, when the income was shrunk to $20, though, they were thinking seriously of contracting to a modest and unassuming D. But whenever Mr. James Dillingham Young came home and reached his flat above he was called "Jim" and greatly hugged by Mrs. James Dillingham Young, already introduced to you as Della. Which is all very good.

Della finished her cry and attended to her cheeks with the powder rag. She stood by the window and looked out dully at a gray cat walking a gray fence in a gray backyard. Tomorrow would be Christmas Day, and she had only $1.87 with which to buy Jim a present. She had been saving every penny she could for months, with this result. Twenty dollars a week doesn't go far. Expenses had been greater than she had calculated. They always are. Only $1.87 to buy a present for Jim. Her Jim. Many a happy hour she had spent planning for something nice for him. Something fine and rare and sterling--something just a little bit near to being worthy of the honor of being owned by Jim.

There was a pier-glass between the windows of the room. Perhaps you have seen a pier-glass in an $8 flat. A very thin and very agile person may, by observing his reflection in a rapid sequence of longitudinal strips, obtain a fairly accurate conception of his looks. Della, being slender, had mastered the art.

Suddenly she whirled from the window and stood before the glass. her eyes were shining brilliantly, but her face had lost its color within twenty seconds. Rapidly she pulled down her hair and let it fall to its full length.

Now, there were two possessions of the James Dillingham Youngs in which they both took a mighty pride. One was Jim's gold watch that had been his father's and his grandfather's. The other was Della's hair. Had the queen of Sheba lived in the flat across the airshaft, Della would have let her hair hang out the window some day to dry just to depreciate Her Majesty's jewels and gifts. Had King Solomon been the janitor, with all his treasures piled up in the basement, Jim would have pulled out his watch every time he passed, just to see him pluck at his beard from envy.

So now Della's beautiful hair fell about her rippling and shining like a cascade of brown waters. It reached below her knee and made itself almost a garment for her. And then she did it up again nervously and quickly. Once she faltered for a minute and stood still while a tear or two splashed on the worn red carpet.

On went her old brown jacket; on went her old brown hat. With a whirl of skirts and with the brilliant sparkle still in her eyes, she fluttered out the door and down the stairs to the street.

Where she stopped the sign read: "Mne. Sofronie. Hair Goods of All Kinds." One flight up Della ran, and collected herself, panting. Madame, large, too white, chilly, hardly looked the "Sofronie."

"Will you buy my hair?" asked Della.

"I buy hair," said Madame. "Take yer hat off and let's have a sight at the looks of it."

    Down rippled the brown cascade.

"Twenty dollars," said Madame, lifting the mass with a practised hand.

"Give it to me quick," said Della.

Oh, and the next two hours tripped by on rosy wings. Forget the hashed metaphor. She was ransacking the stores for Jim's present.

She found it at last. It surely had been made for Jim and no one else. There was no other like it in any of the stores, and she had turned all of them inside out. It was a platinum fob chain simple and chaste in design, properly proclaiming its value by substance alone and not by meretricious ornamentation--as all good things should do. It was even worthy of The Watch. As soon as she saw it she knew that it must be Jim's. It was like him. Quietness and value--the description applied to both. Twenty-one dollars they took from her for it, and she hurried home with the 87 cents. With that chain on his watch Jim might be properly anxious about the time in any company. Grand as the watch was, he sometimes looked at it on the sly on account of the old leather strap that he used in place of a chain.

When Della reached home her intoxication gave way a little to prudence and reason. She got out her curling irons and lighted the gas and went to work repairing the ravages made by generosity added to love. Which is always a tremendous task, dear friends--a mammoth task.

Within forty minutes her head was covered with tiny, close-lying curls that made her look wonderfully like a truant schoolboy. She looked at her reflection in the mirror long, carefully, and critically.

"If Jim doesn't kill me," she said to herself, "before he takes a second look at me, he'll say I look like a Coney Island chorus girl. But what could I do--oh! what could I do with a dollar and eighty- seven cents?"

At 7 o'clock the coffee was made and the frying-pan was on the back of the stove hot and ready to cook the chops.

Jim was never late. Della doubled the fob chain in her hand and sat on the corner of the table near the door that he always entered. Then she heard his step on the stair away down on the first flight, and she turned white for just a moment. She had a habit for saying little silent prayer about the simplest everyday things, and now she whispered: "Please God, make him think I am still pretty."

The door opened and Jim stepped in and closed it. He looked thin and very serious. Poor fellow, he was only twenty-two--and to be burdened with a family! He needed a new overcoat and he was without gloves.

Jim stopped inside the door, as immovable as a setter at the scent of quail. His eyes were fixed upon Della, and there was an expression in them that she could not read, and it terrified her. It was not anger, nor surprise, nor disapproval, nor horror, nor any of the sentiments that she had been prepared for. He simply stared at her fixedly with that peculiar expression on his face.

Della wriggled off the table and went for him.

"Jim, darling," she cried, "don't look at me that way. I had my hair cut off and sold because I couldn't have lived through Christmas without giving you a present. It'll grow out again--you won't mind, will you? I just had to do it. My hair grows awfully fast. Say `Merry Christmas!' Jim, and let's be happy. You don't know what a nice-- what a beautiful, nice gift I've got for you."

"You've cut off your hair?" asked Jim, laboriously, as if he had not arrived at that patent fact yet even after the hardest mental labor.

"Cut it off and sold it," said Della. "Don't you like me just as well, anyhow? I'm me without my hair, ain't I?"

Jim looked about the room curiously.

"You say your hair is gone?" he said, with an air almost of idiocy.

"You needn't look for it," said Della. "It's sold, I tell you--sold and gone, too. It's Christmas Eve, boy. Be good to me, for it went for you. Maybe the hairs of my head were numbered," she went on with sudden serious sweetness, "but nobody could ever count my love for you. Shall I put the chops on, Jim?"

Out of his trance Jim seemed quickly to wake. He enfolded his Della. For ten seconds let us regard with discreet scrutiny some inconsequential object in the other direction. Eight dollars a week or a million a year--what is the difference? A mathematician or a wit would give you the wrong answer. The magi brought valuable gifts, but that was not among them. This dark assertion will be illuminated later on.

Jim drew a package from his overcoat pocket and threw it upon the table.

"Don't make any mistake, Dell," he said, "about me. I don't think there's anything in the way of a haircut or a shave or a shampoo that could make me like my girl any less. But if you'll unwrap that package you may see why you had me going a while at first."

White fingers and nimble tore at the string and paper. And then an ecstatic scream of joy; and then, alas! a quick feminine change to hysterical tears and wails, necessitating the immediate employment of all the comforting powers of the lord of the flat.

For there lay The Combs--the set of combs, side and back, that Della had worshipped long in a Broadway window. Beautiful combs, pure tortoise shell, with jewelled rims--just the shade to wear in the beautiful vanished hair. They were expensive combs, she knew, and her heart had simply craved and yearned over them without the least hope of possession. And now, they were hers, but the tresses that should have adorned the coveted adornments were gone.

But she hugged them to her bosom, and at length she was able to look up with dim eyes and a smile and say: "My hair grows so fast, Jim!"

And them Della leaped up like a little singed cat and cried, "Oh, oh!"

Jim had not yet seen his beautiful present. She held it out to him eagerly upon her open palm. The dull precious metal seemed to flash with a reflection of her bright and ardent spirit.

"Isn't it a dandy, Jim? I hunted all over town to find it. You'll have to look at the time a hundred times a day now. Give me your watch. I want to see how it looks on it."

Instead of obeying, Jim tumbled down on the couch and put his hands under the back of his head and smiled.

"Dell," said he, "let's put our Christmas presents away and keep 'em a while. They're too nice to use just at present. I sold the watch to get the money to buy your combs. And now suppose you put the chops on."

The magi, as you know, were wise men--wonderfully wise men--who brought gifts to the Babe in the manger. They invented the art of giving Christmas presents. Being wise, their gifts were no doubt wise ones, possibly bearing the privilege of exchange in case of duplication. And here I have lamely related to you the uneventful chronicle of two foolish children in a flat who most unwisely sacrificed for each other the greatest treasures of their house. But in a last word to the wise of these days let it be said that of all who give gifts these two were the wisest. O all who give and receive gifts, such as they are wisest. Everywhere they are wisest. They are the magi.

    holiday movies spree (1)

LET THE HOLIDAY SLOBBING BEGIN!!! *lol* yesterday was officially the start of our 13-day (not even a full 2 weeks!) christmas break, but i haven't shown up for class since monday because anyway, i'm not required to come! our profs' having their party last 19th right on our sked (so no one's supposed to be present), and the university's having a afternoon-to-midnight bash last 20th (i was too lazy to come... and there is a practical explanation behind that). so what good have i done to make up for it? have fun, of course! i met a lot of my old friends and batchmates in our alma mater's annual sportsfest monday afternoon, a semi-reunion of sorts... it was great to have caught up with them and even have dinner! (*smiles*) ... so that's one christmas wish granted! =)

and the day after was absolutely a holiday movies spree! i watched pirated versions of "king kong" and "the chronicles of narnia" at home... by myself... because there was nothing to do (as always). i am delighted to post my perceptions of both films here... because i have nothing to post (ha, cruel...) :)

lucy (georgie henley), edmund (skandar keynes), susan (anna popplewell) & peter (william moseley)"c.s. lewis' the chronicles of narnia : the lion, the witch & the wardrobe" was the second film i watched, but i'm putting this atop of "king kong" because i liked it better. i have never read the chronicles of narnia book series, and was enthused with the fact that it was well along the lines of j.r.r. tolkien and j.k. rowling -- fantasy and (children) magic that i wanted to see this movie version. i knew for a fact this film was in production around 2003, didn't know what the fuss was back then, but here i was, amazed with the finished product. it tells a story about four children (the pevensies -- william, susan, edmund & lucy) who lived in the time of war and had to be taken to an eccentric professor's house for safety. bored with the stiff rules of his household, they decided to play hide-and-seek one afternoon and in turn, lucy stumbles upon a wardrobe closet and makes it her hiding place -- but it's more than a wardrobe, it's a portal to an enchanted world. there's the white witch, aslan, and the battle of good over evil. gotta love that.

georgie henley as lucyit was a beautiful movie. i love the winter wonderland (even if it's the witch's curse) with all its snowy landscaping, and even more the lush, vivid colors of the summer... the set was so well-created. lewis has created such memorable, lovable characters... i liked mr. thomas, the beavers, and aslan of course. and the children were wonderful! they acted right for their ages, and made me wanna be part of their family (oh come on). i found susan (anna popplewell) pretty, peter (william moseley) is good to be my bro, edmund (skandar keynes) annoying at first but redeemable, and lucy (georgie henley).... lucy! she was such a darling... from the time she appeared, she was delightful... she had big eyes and a sweet face that makes you wanna cuddle her, very endearing... and she acted so good! how i wish to see her again! =D

i'd give this an A- for all the spectacle and goodies! :)

    holiday movies spree (2)

the human version of kong andy serkis, jack black & colin hanks

my first screening in our holiday movie viewing was "king kong". i really didn't know what to expect before watching it, apart from, you know, a 60-foot hairy ape growling his way through a disturbed existence. i have never watched the previous incarnations of the original 1930s adventure flick, though i trust peter jackson to handle me in the same wide-eyed feeling as he did in the LOTR saga...

well, after uncovering it, i guess it was good entertainment. i like it that i was able to be transported to yet another world, filled with its mystery, suspense, and surprises along the way. kong was unbelievable... how emotional can he get! (hahaha...) he can be fierce, dramatic, funny and romantic! he just has to fall to ann darrow (naomi watts)... aren't there any females (dinosaurs, cannibals, apes?) in the island? haha. i like the interaction between the black man and the teenager (he's a little cute)... and another question, how do they get to transport an unconscious kong from the ship to the theater without wreaking havoc? anyways, it's funny that "the pianist" (one of my fave movies) guys got a reunion of sorts here, adrien brody (as jack driscoll) and thomas kretschmann (as the captain)... and that colin hanks (as preston) actually bears a striking resemblance to daddy tom hanks as i've just noticed in this picture (he on the right)... i wasn't able to spot it earlier because his glasses were distracting me. and oh yes, if i hadn't seen the caption of this pic, i wouldn't have known that andy serkis actually acted without the kong suit -- he was the one-eyed cook! (on the left side of pic) ... pleasant surprise.

gary makes an appearance! kyle chandler as bruce baxter...and lastly, what's most amazing to me is that my favorite tv guy from ages ago starred in this movie! kyle chandler, who played gary hobson in tv's "early edition" (the guy who gets tomorrow's newspaper today and saves lives), is here as the crap actor bruce baxter. i thought i was never going to see him again! i used to watch "early edition" religiously as i remember, and found him handsome (hahaha)... i wondered if he was ever going to have a big break... so maybe this was it! at first i didn't notice him as the gary guy (when he made his appearance in the cabin), but soon after his expressions gave way (such as this) and it hit me! it was a joy to see him back. :)

so, i must say i enjoyed watching "king kong" and i give it a B+.

    who dey!

    the Linz family wins!

the Linz family got the $1-Million prize!!! hooray!!!

my jubilation over the outcome of theseason finale of The Amazing Race 8: Family Edition just two days ago (to mention, we didn't have our wednesday PE!) hasn't waned yet... i was overjoyed with the fact that my two favorites, the Linzes and the Bransens were able to hurdle this 55-day race till the very end. my eyes were glued to the screen for approximately two hours, going through all the heart-stopping moments... for a while there in the first hour i thought the Weavers (still crappin' around) were really leading, thanks to the lucky cab, but soon everything eased and everyone was on their feet at the Stade Olympique... and even for a teeny bit, i like Rolly Weaver for being a taskmaster (with all the roadblocks) and his beautiful blond mop o' hair (i would really like to mess it up). but still, i don't wanna see the rest of them lot. moving on...

one of my favorite scenes would be the Linzes in their "curl it" detour... they were so hilarious and they really had a fun time playing it... one of the brothers was even talking about putting up a curling rink in their hometown, he was so into it... that made me laugh. plus the trapeze and the CN Tower thing... amazing... the Linzes waited for the Bransens in spotting the yellow flag, and left the Weavers out! haha... this shows the two teams had a wonderful alliance (again, let's match them! *LoL*)

the best would be the last roadblock, of course... the jigsaw was the most exciting part ever to determine the winner! i really didn't know (anymore) who to root for, Nick or Wally... it was a close fight! the camera angle of the two guys solving the "US state" puzzle brought so much suspense, i could almost feel my heart thumping! (haha... overkill =p) in the end, Alex got it first (with just around a minute's interval) which catapulted them to the top! wow!!! though i had to give Wally kudos for giving it a great shot (as he's a history-loving person, i knew he did well on it)...

in the end, the Linz family gets one million dollars, and the Bransens win the post-TAR GMC Yukon (add to that another car from their past 1st placed leg and free gas!) -- everybody happy! :) the welcoming moment with phil and the past racers was beautiful... and when everyone hugged each other... man, i wish i were there. LOVE this season!

how about a family picture? :)

P.S. larger versions of the posted pics are found here and elsewhere ... sliced from cbs.com! :p

coming soon, Amazing Race 9! till february again! :D

you could have it so much better

    franz ferdinand!oh, well...
my last post was about just how i'd like to spend my mini vacation and now it's sunday night and everything's almost over?!?! the good times always have to rush by so fast... tomorrow's another doldrum of a day in school (somehow i don't feel like going back there... sigh)

yesterday, momsie and i went to luneta for my much-hyped volleyball practice, and i daresay I DEFINITELY IMPROVED ON MY DIG PASS SKILLS! yes! i have achieved the impossible - 15 out of 15 straight individual passes! we spent 2 hours there, and fortunately i was able to make the shots before it rained... 15 minutes before that actually, or else the day would've been a lost cause. at first i was still scared (yes, s-c-a-r-e-d) of the ball, but i'm much more confident now ~ glee!

lately i've been into dance tunes... from madonna's "hung up" to last friday's episode of "cold case" (70's disco ep, dishing out those hyper tunes like "last dance" and "dancing queen" and "burn baby burn"... got a kick out of that). i'm addicted to franz ferdinand's "do you want to" for a long time running, but the song's stuck in my head once more. it's taken from their latest album, the sophomoric "you could have it so much better". i love FF, got their first record and got delirious over their alternative rock - new wave - 80's style (i liked most of their songs)... and i wonder whether their second effort is better (over at amazon.com it has received pretty good reviews). still, "do you want to" is heavily infectious, and i've been trying to download an mp3 of that but then the ones i got are not working. well, i'd better stick to "michael", my surprise favorite... lyrics will be posted, and please don't think i'm turning gay! =p

    ------------

    Michael
    (Franz Ferdinand)

This is where I'll be, so heavenly
So come and dance with me Michael

    So sexy, I'm sexy
So come and dance with me Michael

I'm all that you see, you wanna see
So come and dance with me Michael

So close now, so close now
So come and dance with me
So come and dance with me
So come and dance with me

Michael you're the boy with all the leather hips
Stucky hair, sticky hips, stubble on my sticky lips
Michael you're the only one I ever want
Only one I ever want, only one I ever want
Beautiful boys on a beautiful dance floor
    Michael you're dancing like a beautiful dance-whore
Michael waiting on a silver platter now
    And nothing matters now

This is what I am I am a man
So come and dance with me Michael

So strong now it's strong now
So come and dance with me Michael

I'm all that you'll be you'll ever see
So come and dance with me Michael

So close now. You're close now
Come and dance with me come and dance with me
So come and dance with me

Michael you're the boy with the leather hips
Sticky hair, sticky lips, stubble on my sticky hips
Beautiful boys on a beautiful dance floor
Michael you're dancing like a beautiful dance whore
Michael waiting on a silver platter now
    And nothing matters now
    And nothing matters now

ahhh... today is the 2nd day of my four-day-long "mini vacation"... it's a lucky thing our profs' retreat is 'sandwiched' between our dec.8 holiday and sunday! so far, i like it (love spending time alone... "when the cats are away, mousy will play!" ;D) and there's not much pressure for me to do anything... the life.. about 12 days later we'll be having our christmas break! it's odd though that college xmas breaks are pretty short, and that we'll be having exams on the 16 of january, just when we're still hung-over from the glorious festivities. (again, shades of missing my old school... *flush*) ... hmm. for the week, i've got an engaging book to keep me company ("The Testament"... i'm so lucky to have found this in our book fair... *does a happy dance*), reading materials (newspapers, comics, college publications), the chilly weather (i love it!), the bed whenever i'm slobby and sleepy, and food... (leftover cake & ice cream from my de-butt!) ... homework maybe next time. i also have a volley date with mom tomorrow morning -- test those lazy arms! :)

speaking of volley, i think i improved a bit this week. though clinching only 5/15 for the individual dig pass activity (it's not graded anyway), i feel i did much better compared to the last meet (but a "pulot girl" as always.) i was able to use my wrists (and NOT my arms) for it, which is the correct position. and our activity last wednesday wasn't so strenuous, so i emerged unscathed -- no bruises, nada! i'm glad i'm not "battered" for the time being. I JUST WANT TO DO WELL.

(reason: couldn't change my PE course anymore. no choice.)

another reason to be happy is that people remembered my 18th! thanks guys! :D

TAR8 update: it's down to the Final Three for the 2-hour finale next week!
currently in the running are (1) the Bransens, (2) the Linzes, and (3) the Weavers. grrrr for the last, although i guess they add up to the spice of the show. every TAR's got the baddies (like rob and amber of season 7.) i am sooo excited to see who'll get the million! go linz! go bransen! :) (although in the teaser, daddy wally was almost losing his steam finding the clue in the stadium... i just want them to get ahead of the witches..) Linz, please be first! well, if all else fails, phil still rocks my socks! *LOL* :)

on the other hand, i'm currently getting drawn to the waves of "Lost". i haven't seen most of the first few episodes, though i have been following it almost every week. it's sleekly addicting. i don't find the lead guy (dr. jack -- matthew fox) that handsome as mum would say (ha!), but then he's fairly good. my present favorite character is locke, for no absolute reason. (he's old & bald & a little crazy!) ... for those who aren't familiar "Lost" is a show co-created by J.J. Abrams (of "Alias", now the director of "Mission Impossible 3" with the wacky Tom Cruise *LoL*) about a plane flight to australia gone awry, crashing on a remote island and leaving the survivors as castaways. there's a mystery to the island, and there's always someone ending up dead (or so i think). summary: it's a matter of survival. ... i didn't know what the fuss was at first, but i'm slowly warming up to it.

i have been semi-watching "Rockstar: INXS" on local tv at rare occasions, and admittably it's an entertaining show. (i have been detached from "American Idol" for a very looong time, you know.) i just can't stay up late for this (11pm?), so i'm not familiar with the contestants. though i do know the winner was J.D. Fortune, and i've seen him a couple of times, i still don't think he's that good (but who am i to judge? i'm no rock chick) ... but there's no denying his stage presence & appeal to the girls. now he's singing the "it ain't pretty" song with INXS. nice tap-your-foot kind of tune. apart from the finalists, one of the reasons i watch the show is the House Band -- they're great! they really make the songs go alive. *wondering if i'd switch my music interests*

    ---

btw, i just want to share my recent favorite musical experience. it happened last monday, when my friends and i were going to church. (ahem, i'm an angel! *cough*) we went inside and saw (and heard) the university orchestra playing christmas pieces in the front! there were violins, cellos, cymbals, the works! we sat & prayed, but in my mind i was distracted with the music -- it was beautiful... heavenly even! it was as if we were in a concerto! they played so wonderfully. turns out there was going to be a presentation the next day, and this was a rehearsal! i love it that we caught their practice... christmas carols done classically never sounded so good! :)

Emma Watson & hottie Robert Pattinson in Japan, image from mugglethai.com if i were in emma's shoes, i'm probably the luckiest girl alive that night. =p

this is to be my conclusion (yeah, right) to my never-ending psychotic obsession to the wretched harry potter (hahaha)... i'd better stop this craziness since it's becoming a disturbance to my psyche (ya know what i mean?) and my normal life (yeah, i call it Life). i just wanted to post this cute pic from the japan premiere of "HP&GoF" ... so the fact is robert's cheeks are naturally blushed!!! it's just so adorable *fawns*... never saw a guy having the rosiest cheeks in my entire life! and actually, out of the many pics of them in the said premiere (from mugglethai.com), i chose this pic of my sweetheart since i think it's a good angle for him (i didn't like the frontals and the solos)... man, he can pose for me anytime (!)... all of 19 years... i wish him the best in his future projects (again, damn it! why did he have to die in the story??? *sob*)

TAR8 update: why are the weavers so f***in lucky?! i'm beginning to wonder about the race itself -- production errors?! first the godlewskis (last ep?), then the linzes (this ep). both had this "error" that made them fall behind in their respective legs (to think they were leading before that happened)... that the cameraman's battery ran out and well, of course they had to replace it... so that left the bransens in the lead (which isn't bad), followed by the ick team. the linz family's in last place! i was almost mad because the weavers always manage to stay... but then upon meeting phil (sexy, i loved it when he was sitting there in the ranch waiting for them), he said the leg hasn't ended yet, to be continued! i only hope the linzes can beat back to the top... weavers get lost!

(another sad news, CNN's no longer showing in the college lobby. dang it.)

    O.M.G.

    Oh. My. Gash.

that's what volleyball class done to me this week. it sucks! we were doing the "dig pass" and me being the first-timer tried to hit the ball and pass it to my partner... the ball was white and rubber and WAS HARD-SURFACED... it's like a coconut (even a watermelon), only lighter... aaaah! the bruises left in my arms were so dark and ugly.. and what more, prominent (since i'm one heck of a snow white) so you'd probably think i was inducted to a sorority or something! i'm starting to hate my PE so bad... i regret having signed up... but i have to try my best on this... no choice! :(

(if you're good at volleyball, give me tips on how to get that ball rolling!)

and generally, i'm not so enthusiastic about my second sem... i think i like my first sem better. now, it's like do-or-die... it's crappy. and i'm being a procrastinator these days, so it didn't help that i barely passed my first quizzes... and i only got half of the score in english! ack! i hate by-the-book profs... i really want to make it in the list (dean's list, majors)... but somehow things just aren't working for me right now. i have a NatSci quiz tomorrow, perhaps i'll start being a bit un-lazy over that. :|

(P.S. happy birthday to my momsie!)
