big bird in the big city

guess what? i'm GAY! G-A-Y! GAAAAAY!!!! :P rofl...

seriously (when have i been serious??!), i took my first step to independence by commuting to my future school! though i have gone to ust many times already (around 4x), this is the first time i did it "almost" ALONE. (i don't call my 1-jeep ride plus walk to sj a journey then... it was too convenient!) and why 'almost'? well, i was really supposed to go solo this time (as a test for survival & stamina), but my over-protective mommy (how sweet) was 'quite' concerned about me, so she still 'escorted' me in going to the school. she said she was so frightful that i'm doing it by myself. she already went out of the house but went back again after reading an our daily bread entry called "Death Clock"! morbid, but that's holy bull! i'm not gonna be superstitious of anything. but she persisted. we did go together, except we pretended that we didn't know each other... we sat in different corners of the jeep & paid our own fare. now i knew it's a 15-kilometer journey from the 3 rides i mustered.

mom was summoned to work when we reached ust, and so i had to fend for myself (finally!) for the ride home. the reason why i went to ust was because of additional uniform orders, which i'll be claiming at the 23rd... a school day. before i exited the commerce building i lounged for a while in the lobby, with all the bulletins around. i looked at the huge post which said "BS Accountancy Graduates" with all the names listed, addresses and honors (if any). i'm overwhelmed, it was a long list but it was only a 150+ or so names... and among them were 20 cum laudes! i never thought there'd be a lot! i think there were three (or five) magna cls and a summa cl (?)... i skimmed too quick to keep track. as there were compulsory summer classes in the 3rd & 4th years to complete the units, they were to graduate by june. (i read the graduates were only confirmed last may 23.) but the point of the matter is, i want to study hard to become an honor student (something i never dreamed of anymore when i was still in gs/hs)... and there could probably be a chance to become one! i'll probably launch into my own "I Have a Dream" speech if i talk about this any further... wish me luck anyway! :)

the three rides home was pretty bearable, except for my teeny weeny mis-ride. MIS-RIDE??? well, getting out of the college gate, i immediately boarded the jeep on the way out of the road... little did i know that it's the WRONG jeep! i *actually* thought all jeeps going out of that road will lead to my stop! arrgh! so when the jeep turned to a small alleyway, i went out and walked to the main road again. thankfully, i saw the real jeep and got a ride a few seconds after my hullabaloo. (darn, 5.50 wasted!!) i managed the 2 remaining rides back home without much fuss. and I SURVIVED!!! i may have gotten curious looks from passersby and was still quite a headless chicken (no, BIG BIRD!) while crossing the road, but it was a good first time experience. at least i won't have to get that jittery on the first day of classes. yahoo! :D

(p.s. did you know i was so SLEEPLESS last night just thinking of my first road trip?)
